Well, people set my expectations really high so I was kind of disappointed. The place is very friendly, the staff was excellent that night and seeing really beef patties and potatoes made me feel good about eating what seemed like real food. The extra giant scoop of fries in the brown bag just before closing it is a marketing touch that works.
Food wise the fries tasted very natural, definitely earthy, like potatoes which grew in some sort of soil!!! People might say ” great” well, I’d say that some varieties of potatoes are more suitable for fries than others and I would recommend five guys to look around. They were too dry, mealy almost.
I got the cheeseburger with mustard, fried onions and tomatoes. The meat tasted good, it was thick but slightly dry. Quality was definitely better than Mc-Donalds and the likes. My main complaint is the bun, it was mushy, tasteless, completely useless and certainly not palatable! Just a week before I got a burger at Phil’s Burger and (unlike what I say in my review of it), the bun was excellent, toasted, full of taste, just crunchy but not too much, almost perfect!
So five guys will do as an occasional fast food stop but not more.
