About
ENGLISH : I love food and just moved to Austin, TX, USA from Switzerland (March 2009) so naturally I want to write about my move, Austin and its culture as well as its food scene. I intend to be more critical and realistic in my restaurant reviews as I feel that most blogger nowadays are too lenient, positive and “foodie”. I don’t like foodies, they are not realistic, believe that chefs are marvelous, refined artists and thus pleasant people! I’ve met some, worked (shortly with some) and can tell you that no they are not, A. Bourdain said it himself, chefs are evil, drug addict and aggressive, the food they produce is sometimes amazing and sometimes unedible but always the product of and intense, exhausting labor.
Back to my move, the culture shock is fairly intense on all level an it will be present in all my posts whether in restaurant reviews or more personal ones. I write both in French and English, French being my mother tongue (as you might notice). For family and friends I’ll also relate some funny encounters, experiences and try to describe this weird, giant and unknown state which abroad make people dream about westerns, cowboys and steaks.
